Ask and It Is Given – Inspired Action
Most recently, I was listening to Esther Hicks, and one of her best-known books is called Ask and It Is Given. Now, I’ve heard the phrase “inspired action” many times, and probably for many years. But the true meaning and importance of “inspired action” didn’t hit me until now.
That’s what I love about repetition – when you read the same book again and again, you pick up different things each times based on where you are in your life, how you see the world, your growth since you last read it, and so many other factors.
And so be it with inspired action! Let me share with you how this showed up for me. I was listening to Esther Hicks (author of Ask and It Is Given), and she was talking about inspired action, and for some reason, over the last few days, those two words stuck with me. My subconscious has been playing around with the words, the phrase, all the meanings – rolling them around in my head like the surf tumbles a stone to polish it.
I walk every day, and I always get “divinely gifted downloads” during my walks. When I receive these divinely gifted downloads, I get excited and motivated – I’m in what Esther would call “the vortex” and what I call “being in the zone” – being so connected to who I am at such a high energetic and vibrational level. It feels so right, so real, and I can’t wait to get back to the office and get started!
But what do you think happens more often than not?
That’s right. I leave it behind. Because I have so many different ongoing projects – projects I’m already working on and prioritizing, already in the swing of – that it goes to the bottom of an especially long Will-Do list.
And lo and behold, by the time I get to my Divine Download all the way at the bottom of that Will-Do list, I’m just not inspired the way I once was!
Let me tell you what happened today – because it made a pivotal shift in me.
I’m planning for my live event this October 19-21, 2018, Expert Celebrity™ Brand Influencer Red Carpet Live Event, and there are so many moving parts to putting on a live event – in addition to all of the other projects I have going on in my business and with my clients!
Now, having a lot to do is a good thing – it keeps my creative and analytical juices always flowing.
But still, having a ton of pre-existing work to do ends up pushing those Divine Downloads so far into the future, they never get done.
Lately, I’ve been putting off writing some very important emails. And then this morning, when I started in on my pre-existing Will-Do list, I got a Divine Download: this would be a great note to share with people who are receiving complimentary discovery sessions in the next few days, and I want to send them a congratulations letter!
And what did I do? I took inspired action.
I received the Divine Download and I followed up on it – right then! It took me no more than ten minutes to sit down and write a heartfelt, authentic note to people congratulating them for their upcoming discovery sessions.
I’m still vibrating with excitement!
The alternative would have been my usual MO: receive the download, not taking any inspired action in that moment, writing it down and putting it aside, and getting back to it when I have time. And by the way – when I have time and get to it, I usually end up not feeling like doing it!
Then I realized something: when I work with my clients and help them write their books (most of my clients have non-fiction books), I help them identify the structure and the strategy for their book. By the second session, they’ve already identified their chapters. They may not have their flashy titles yet, but they have working titles that give them a good jumping off point for writing the actual chapters.
The best part? One thing I always tell my authors is when you sit down to write during your writing session (and a writing session only needs to be 2-3 hours at a time), look at your list of chapter titles, and write what you feel like writing.
I’ve been instructing them to take inspired action all this time, without even calling it that!
Inspired action is something that you connect to, and it just flows. You can ramble forever, and the words will just come freely to you – and you’ll want to keep going! Plus, it takes far less time to complete a project!!
All these things I knew, but this morning I experienced it and felt it down to my toes!
Here are the 3 Steps I Use to Implement Inspired Action
1. ASK FOR IT!
Do something that takes your mind and focus off of your daily tasks. Whether it’s in the shower, whether it’s going for a walk, or even just before you go to sleep, ask the question: “I would like to receive feedback on…”, or “I’m expecting a Divinely Gifted Download on XYZ”.
For instance, the other day, I knew I had to map out each day of my 3-Day Live Event and get it finalized. Now, I’d been working on this for some time, but it just wasn’t gelling the way I knew it could. So, what did I do? I set out for my morning walk and knew it would come. I walked along the ocean for an hour, and received all the Downloads I needed.
When I got home, I couldn’t wait to write down the modules I received as a Divine Download on my calendar – the main topics for each day of my Live Event. And when my event planner arrived that afternoon, she was thrilled, too!
2. GET IT, DO IT!
When you receive the information, DO IT. I know this can be hard! But is there any way you can take notes in your phone? Or take a break to write that email out, make that call, or do whatever it is you need to do in that moment, when you have the high vibrational energy and allow the energy to lift you?
3. REFLECT ON IT!
Look back on recent occasions where you’ve taken inspired action, and look at what the results were. Now that you know what inspired action is, you can figure this part out! Where have you recently taken inspired action? What happened? Where can you create space in your life to receive more Divine Downloads?
Feeling inspired yet?
I know I am!
Where will you create space for Divinely Gifted Downloads to come into your life?
Where will you take inspired action in your life?
When we are living in inspired action, we can trust the steps along our path. Inspired action is flow, it is creation, it is getting it done – because ask, and you shall receive!
